Maureen Dowd is a cold, powerful woman whose intensity and intelligence surpasses her sweet, sensitive side. She has great  red hair and sharp red lipstick to match. Her lips are usually pierced with a smurky smile (see sample photo.) She’s written Are Men Necessary: When Sexes Collide and gave nicknames to Bush and Cheney over the years as “W.” and “Big Time” respectively. She won the Pulitzer for her columns on the Monica Lewinski and Clinton years. Also, she was just featured in this month’s Vanity Fair with A Girl’s Guide to Saudi Arabia. You can see a small piece of her article here. So, basically she’s a bad ass.

Check out her chronicles of Steinbrenner and Seinfeld and don’t be afraid to lurk around her page and read her past contributions. They are usually all pretty terrific.

It seems like we can’t stop posting about him. Well, he’s doing a 60 Minutes interview. And if I had a television, I’d watch it. More here. It’s the end of the line. One and half weeks left of class. Weird, right?

Well, the Opinionator is a great nytimes blog that I love to write about, although I haven’t been reading it as heavily anymore. For reasons I’m unsure of, my interest in the news has dwindled over the past year. Even my op-ed obsession has fallen to the way-side, something I never thought I’d live to see. But every once and a while I come across something that is just your style. More from the same guy anddddd here is his website. It’s cool and in flash, so make sure your computer can handle it. He must have some serious sleeping problems because just like the last posting and cartoons he shared with the times, this too is about insomnia –something I’m glad I’ve never really suffered from aside from nights that fit into their own category of restless thoughts and daydreams. Also, there’s GOOD magazine. Here is an interactive on the two earthquakes that recently quaked Chile and Haiti. And if you are a ‘young adult’ (yes, erica, we are growing up SOMETIME soon…) you might want to move away to explore something new. Four of these cities are in Texas. The only two people I’ve ever met FROM Texas (Austin, that is) are really great, smart people. Don’t write it off. Until then, peruse some internet, ride some bikes and listen to poly-sonic-pleasantness, however you may define it.
